Summary:  This monograph presents the basic textbook literature in the subject of theory and teaching methods of dances for the students of the Faculty of Sport and Physical Education, University of Belgrade. The monograph is structured according to the existing course syllabus in order to make the issues of dance accessible to the students.
This monograph from the field of dance offers a new approach to the process of knowledge acquiring. It is reflected in a clearer and more descriptive syllabus presentation through the elements prescribed by the Bologna Declaration for the European standard of studies. As a help for students to study more efficiently, the book contains the following: abstract, keywords, exam questions, footnotes, references and pictures that exist within each didactic unit. In this way it allows students to examine a comprehensive teaching material in order to be able to grasp the essential elements of the field.
The book provides explanations of basic terms and their definitions that are relevant for the understanding of the theory and teaching methods of dance. It defines the object and aim of this teaching and scientific subject so that one can get a clearer view of the area of study of this important field of physical education.
