Summary:  The book "Swimming in Instruction" is oriented towards the teacher, his/her pedagogical work, training model, evaluation, methods of encouraging students for learning and achievement. At one point it concretizes theoretical assumptions and determines practical models of teaching swimming in the school environment and children's sports. Starting from the theories of teaching and learning, the theories of biological growth and development, social development and learning, and theories relating to motor training in physical education and children's sports, the author builds an expedient theoretical framework and makes an introduction to special didactics – the teaching methods of swimming.
Swimming classes are recognized as a pedagogical tool in motor, cognitive, intellectual, affective and social development of students. The author emphasizes the pedagogical purposeful connections between the teaching process and the development of interests and habits for motor and cognitive learning. In details he defines motor competence in water and swimming itself. He provides examples and models of training motor skills in water and by swimming. He points out purposeful teaching contents, teaching methods and training techniques, which promote, monitor and evaluate the development of a significant number of student competencies. He presents swimming classes in the context of modern educational theory and practice.
